Understanding Science

Science is all around us. From the sun in the sky, to the phone in our pocket, or flowers in the garden, science is all of these things.

Through discovery, science aims to build knowledge about things around us, creating a learning space by which we can try to answer all those big ‘why?’ questions we have.

Innovations and discoveries in science has allowed for society to progress to the point it is at today, with a lot of the modern advances and conveniences provided by, yours truly, science!

Science education therefore is very important, in order to maintain the scientific basis upon which society has built itself, but also as it allows for a wide variety of learning skills to be developed.

Science is all around us. From the sun in the sky, to the phone in our pocket, or flowers in the garden, science is all of these things.

The process of science involves critical thinking, communication with others, patience, perseverance, and attention to detail. Thus engaging in science is rewarding in many ways for the individual!

But recently there has been a declining trend in the popularity of science in schools, in terms of study and choice as a career path.

The Western Sydney Science Hub is one of the Regional Science Hubs, formed under the national Inspiring Australia strategy. With local actions tailored to communities, the hubs aim to re-engage people, particularly students, with science. By creating a renewed understanding of science the aim is to instill a passion and love for science in our future generations.
