The Western Sydney Science Hub was formed in 2013 as a part of the Inspiring Australia initiative, which aims to create a more scientifically engaged Australia through a variety of community engagement programs.
Through partnerships with Penrith South Public School, the Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment at Western Sydney University and the Country Women’s Association the hub has been well supported in bringing science to life for the community.
National Science Week, held during the middle of August across Australia, is one of the premiere events of the year for the hub. Across a number of days various events are hosted by the hub and attended by primary school students from the local Western Sydney area. The aim of these events is to engage students with science, getting them excited about learning and being involved in all things science.
